MS Access Basics

This is equivalent to ECDL Extra module

This course teaches the basic concepts to a database, such as views and tables, and use a database application to create a database.

After completing this course you should be able to:

  • Understand key concepts of database development and usage.
  • Create a relational database using table creation features and relationships between tables.
  • Design and use queries to create a table, update, delete and append data.
  • Refine queries using wildcards, parameters and calculations.

Who is it for?

This is for people who will use databases for everyday tasks.

  • No prior of knowledge of database software is required.
  • Basic IT skills needed (If this is not you, you could have a look at our I.T. Basics course)

What Qualifications will be received?

  • All attendees will receive a Certificate of Achievement on completion.
  • You can choose to sit the ECDL exam for the modules you have completed

There are further opportunities for learners to build upon what they have learnt. For Example:

  1. Progress to the Advanced Workshop
  2. Attend further workshops and courses which can be used to build up a full IT User Qualification e.g.
  • BCS ITQ qualification
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

We also operate a number of community skills clubs which improve your earning potential and provide a mutually supportive social outlet.
